Notice of Discontinuation of support for original ConnTech 2000 Design.

Effective March 30th, 2006, CTP is discontinuing support for the original design of the ConnTech 2000 platform. This applies to all ConnTech 2000's beginning with serial number A001 and the accompanying host control Windows software, version 5.10. CTP is no longer able to supply technical support due to the obsolete nature of the S/W tools used in the development of the ConnTech 2000 hardware and software platforms. CTP will provide an upgrade service for these older units making them compliant with the current ConnTech2000 platform. The cost of the upgrade will be based on the serial number of the unit. We will request the serial numbers and revision levels from the original owners of the ConnTech 2000.

Firmware Features included with product upgrade

The new Firmware upgrade to the ConnTech 2000 allows the use of the latest version 5.12 operating software. The new Firmware will include the following new features:

1. Allows two units to run head to head BERT tests on independent uplinks and down links.
2. Full 1024 byte frame is generated in the BERT test mode.
3. Unit supports Fibre Channel 1.0625 Gbs and 2.125 Gbs Link / BERT test modules.
4. Unit detects and reports different line interface modules to the user screen : ESCON , Fibre Channel 1 Gbs and Fibre Channel 2 Gbs.
5. In addition to detecting LOF, adds loss of Frame (LOF) to event log screen with date and time stamp.
6. Improve message reporting of minimum idles between frames to Less than 4 idles between 2 consecutive frames.
7. Change system timeout notification, when no response from the ConnTech 2000 is detected a fixed 2 second time out limit is imposed and a message is sent to the screen.
8. Add new feature "configure" to BERT summary screen to check PC's available comm. ports that can be used to control the ConnTech 2000's
9. Expand analyzer trigger display to increase trigger menu settings
10. Add Open Fibre Protection over ride feature under operator control to keep transmitter ON when no signal is detected at the receiver within the allotted time. This feature is used with the FC1 and FC2 Fibre Channel Link / BERT test windows.
11. Check PC comm. ports to see if any are designated as "modem only" and report to summary screen.
12. Allow up to 16 ConnTech 2000's in the Link / BERT test mode to be controlled from one PC . The ConnTech 2000's may have a mix of ESCON and /or Fibre Channel 1 or 2 Gbs modules running independently. Monitoring the units can be done from one BERT Summary screen.
13. F/W and S/W upgrades come with one year warranty.

New Product Release from Connecticut Technology Products, LLC

ConnTech 2000 Fiber Channel 2.125 Gbs Link/ BERT Tester

The ConnTech 2000 model FC2 is the third in a series of portable test equipment tools targeted for the Enterprise. The model FC2 is a Fiber Channel Link and BERT tester operating at the 2.125 Gbs rate that provides point to point physical layer testing of double rate Fiber Channel circuits supporting Storage Area Networks (SAN). Fiber Channel frame generation and primitive sequences can be created and transmitted onto circuits under test. User selected data patterns from drop down menus are placed within the frame's payload field that can be industry standard PRBS test patterns, fixed patterns or user defined 32 bit words. All you need to do is specify the data rate, frame size, and test patterns; the tester generates the patterns which can contain intentional errors and continuously monitors the link for LOL, LOF, CRC, 8B/10B bipolar code violations, minimum idles between frames, and bit errors. In addition, the generator mode provides unframed test patterns to be used for DJ and RJ jitter testing.

Time delay measurements can also be made on your circuits with a one-button command from the easy to use Windows based GUI interface. The ARM and Capture command allows the user to capture errors during BERT testing to show expected vs. actual received data captured by the ConnTech 2000 during the test. The ConnTech 2000 platform serial numbers A002- xxx and higher are ready to support model FC2.

Connecticut Technology Products, LLC (Woodbury, CT) and Latin Telecom LLC (Buenos Aires, Argentina) have entered into a reseller agreement whereby Latin Telecom will be an authorized reseller of the ConnTech 2000 ESCON TM test generator and analyzer and Fiber Channel FC1 link and BERT tester in Latin America. Latin Telecom will provide sales and support for the ConnTech 2000 test sets from its main office in Buenos Aires along with its partners in several cities throughout Latin America.

Reseller agreement with Synchronous Communications Corp (Sync)

Connecticut Technology Products, LLC (Woodbury, CT) and SYNC Corp. (Taipei, Taiwan) have entered into a new re-seller agreement whereby SYNC Corp. will be the authorized sales representative and distributor of the ConnTech 2000 ESCON^TM test generator and analyzer in Taiwan. SYNC will now provide the distribution and sale of the ConnTech 2000 model ESC to the Taiwan markets.

Synchronous Communications Corp (Sync) was founded in April of 1990 by three telecommunication professionals for the purpose of introducing worldwide telecommunication testing instruments and equipment into Taiwan market. In order to provide our customers with a full range of services, we established field offices in Kaohsiung and Taichung city in 1992 and 1994. There are currently 70 employees and three sales departments in the company, namely Telecom Instruments, Network System and E-Commerce Departments who created annual turnover $14.5 million US dollars in 2000 & 16 million US dollars in 2001.

Connecticut Technology Products, LLC (Woodbury, CT) and CNT GmbH ( Munchen, Germany) have entered into an exclusive reseller agreement whereby Inrange Technologies Gmbh will be the authorized distributor of the ConnTech 2000 ESCON^TM test generator and analyzer in Europe. Inrange Technologies GmbH has been incorporating this test unit with their DWDM metropolitan network installations and will now provide the distribution of the ConnTech 2000 model ESC to the European market.

DWDM Application Note - ConnTech 2000

This application note has been formulated to address the process of DWDM installation testing and the use of the Conntech 2000-ESC in this process. application note was generated in response to inquiries from telecommunication carriers and communication support groups responsible for transporting ESCONÔ data over DWDM equipment. These service providers have been kindly informed by their customers they do not wish to be a test case when their ESCONÔ data is to be transported over metropolitan DWDM networks.

BERT Testing added to the ConnTech 2000

The ConnTech 2000 Link Tester now features BERT testing for a single link. BERT Testing occurs simultaneously with Link Diagnostics. All that you need to do is specify the data pattern, frame size and data rate and the Link Tester will monitor the link for errors on both receivers and and analyze for bit errors on receiver 1. Whenever an error is detected it will be displayed and logged. The total test time is displayed on the screen. The errors logged can be controlled for both BERT testing and Link Diagnostics. This means that the log file can be filtered to only contain the type of errors that are desired. All errors are date and time stamped. The logged data can be saved to a text file for future review. The logged data can be tagged with testing information; model number, serial number, customer information, and the tester's name. All of this is provided in a high level easy to use interface.

ESCON^TM Tester and Analyzer

The ConnTech 2000 model ESC is the first in a series of tools targeted for the Enterprise . The initial offering provides three tools for the ESCON^TM environment in one small portable package:. The model ESC provides a powerful user configurable tester capable of generating and detecting errors at full ESCON^TM rates. Additionally, the model ESC provides sequences of user defined frames and user invoked errors both at the frame and sequence level. The model ESC incorporates a full featured analyzer capable of capturing and displaying full duplex ESCON^TM traffic. All tools are managed through a comprehensive and easy to use high level Windows based interface. The ConnTech 2000 now provides Link Level Auto Initialization functionality (Auto Initialize). All that you need to do is specify a node descriptor. The ConnTech 2000 will maintain the link in inactive (Idle) state indefinitely. The channel initialization process establishes the necessary conditions for elements of a channel path to be able to sustain both link-level and device-level communication. The Auto Initialize feature of the ConnTech 2000 establishes the necessary conditions for sustaining link-level communications.
